PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
Every student is capable of learning. To be effective in the classroom, a teacher must consider what each student brings to the class each day and that every person has a story, regardless of age. As educators, we need to concern ourselves with the socio-emotional health of the student before we can expect them to learn our subject matter.
Rationale for Choosing Capstone Project
UNITY has changed lives for high school students and staff all around the Corona-Norco school district. It provides a forum for people to share about the relevant issues in our society. UNITY opens people's eyes, ears and hearts to understand each person as an individual.
We know that students who are connected to school at the secondary level, are more successful in their classes which leads to a better chance of a higher education and eventually, better careers and lives. This project aims at getting UNITY leadership students into the community to help others. This will benefit each student as well as the people they help. By spreading the ideals of UNITY, we can create a more selfless community and a better understanding that if we work together, we can change anything. Eventually, the goal is to have UNITY classes at the middle school level.
